Visions from Mount Helicon…
Words and Music exist as a tribute to the moment; my moment was 3:30 in the morning July 11 Dionysus filled the evening with his magic; Aphrodite touched us with the immortality that only love can offer and as her son Eros enveloped us with fog and darkness to protect us on this mythical adventure called life. Our guide Hermes would take us tonight from the fear and despair of the underworld to the heights of Olympus…tonight we walked with the Gods…as a child at the Oracle of Delphi I was privileged to have the opportunity to inhale from the Oracle… since I have often felt the Titans taunt me showing me the wonders of the gods yet always keeping them just out of reach…the muses would come to sing but never guide me through the song…it was late April over a quarter of a century ago at Mount Helicon Greece resting in an olive grove I felt the muses…the sound of Euterpe’s flute would give me music, Erato would give me words and Calliope would guide my hands in the creation of word and expression for the immortals… it may have just been three young boys singing and playing with a heard of goats…to me it was a sign …would I ever realize the completeness of the Oracle…tonight the muses gave up their secrets, tonight I saw forever… I stood at a darker hour in my life and found a beam of sunshine struggling to exist… it always amazes me how in the darkest places a beam of sunshine can find its way…the light of creation unstoppable…In the last month my creative journey progressed as much or more than it has from the first day …the 11th of July was the moment the sun broke through the darkness and fog at 3:30 am the beauty of art, the force of music, the power of love came together to create something new and wonderful in the twilight of the morning dawn… if I could live for only one hour of my lifetime this was the hour…when you hear our words or touch our art I hope that for one second you can experience the pureness of that moment that predawn hour that changed the definition of who we are… our hands have spoken and The OTIS exists we are now defined and complete… as you look at my and our work know that all anyone really needs is that once in a lifetime hour that you give up who you are and hand over with love and trust all that you have been and can be …heaven is easy to find ..You just have to believe…close your eyes touch our art and Believe…Mount Olympus and immortality await…May the muses of the world grant that feeling to all who touch our creation on July 11 each year may the creation of three hearts give you the emotion trapped in the stone… As a boy at Mount Helicon who would have thought I would find the reason for living a world away in the arms of the 2 Muses who would take me from the pull of the earth to the unbounded world of the titans…
