Chita, Bill, Brian, Rip & J.B.
The day “Then There Were Three” was conceived.
There are days when pen hits paper and its magic and then there are days…Writers block, an excuse to sit in a coffee shop and watch the world searching for ideas. It was Thanksgiving at Joe Allan’s Restaurant Rip Taylor, Chita Rivera, Brian, I and our son…Rip said, “Write something we can do.” Later that night, watching our son’s embarrassment, at the Pleasure Chest in the West Village as he bought a gag gift for his girlfriend, I Knew I was on to something…I was having a coffee and talking over a sculpture idea at the Factory the next morning when a conversation beside me brought everything together …she was fed up dating men …he was fed up dating men …they were dating the same man! “Then There Were Three”….The music flowed…the jokes wrote their own punch lines and Rip started to look good in that black leather number…good God this idea might have legs…No more block …now just hope I don’t run out of ink and paper before my troubled young loves learn their lessons from that sweet old couple that run the sex shop next door…a guy, a girl, a guy, 2 girls, 2 guys and love as confounding and confusing…can the wisdom of a couple of open minded elderly shop keepers ? …you’ll have to read the script to see what happens
Then There Were Three
The story of love, love, loves…. as seen through the world of Mimi and Mortimer,
just your average grandparents, who run a sex shop in Greenwich Village.
The exploits of six young New Yorkers and their new found families with Mimi and Mortimer told with a musical score that will leave you humming, laughing, giggling and gaggling stumbling and fumbling out of the theater. A musical comedy that makes you want to make three wishes.

POGROM
So this is blogging….Pogrom has been a part of my life for a couple of years now, many nights working on the comedy, Then There Were Three!, to balance the dark and often over powering nature of Pogrom. 6pm
The first week of May 07 brought to an end the first chapter in the story of Pogrom as we brought to life the words I labored over for so long. The Marriot Marquees has always been a favorite of mine countless hours at the View writing, eating and consuming unimaginable amounts of coffee…now as they put me into costume the first public readings and workshop preview of Pogrom in Times Square where the idea was born with Scottish Playwright Karen Ruspin” If it weren’t for John Wayne”
I am here at the Marriott Marques where it started.I am terrified will they like it! Hell it’s the story of Hitler on the night of the final solution…Who the hell can like it! The suspense will drive me as crazy as the subject.

They got it….
I must say getting into character was way to easy… proves the horrible thought that but for the grace of god any of us…. Everyone seemed to enjoy for lack of a better word the work and looks like everything is now in place…I don’t envy the actor who finally takes on this role I know after this week and the last few years its draining…. the amazing thing is watching my words affect people.

My Husband said I fit the costume a bit to well and my son joked that he knew this side of me when he misbehaved in high school! After 20 years I guess I have to keep loven them.
Dyane is here from the 1TSP and I’ll post her review:
