I know, I know its been forever since I updated yes I’m still alive just old enough to know there are times to keep your mouth shut or you’ll say something…
By now you all know I stand behind what I say and I will gladly admit if by some chance I’m wrong so rather that say something I would rather not I stayed silent…. it was a long month!
So let’s catch up you have written me with hundreds of questions, and I’ll try to make myself clear I don’t give personal advice. When I tell you about the screw-up I’ve made it’s in the hope I help you avoid the same stupidity…each of us is unique in our circumstance so don’t think I have any answers like everyone I get through on trial and error. To those of you who have written for advice on your work or questions from classes I’ve lectured at I am reading your letters and will answer just give me a bit of time to catch up …

It’s no official The virgin chain will go the way of the record , the mega stores in Times Square and Union Square were my favourite haunts with Tower records gone Lincoln center to the bowery it will be hard to buy a Video or CD with any real selection…porn magazines are closing up, newspapers are closing up and now video and record stores everything this generation dose is online….I guess now a whole generation will get their movies music and news , the same way they get their sex…ALONE!
It’s a sad way to live, and its no wonder the economy is crashing, no employees no overheard no pleasure shopping …progress?
To all who are asking about my tooth! The surgery to remove it is next week they’ll put me out for it … not sure how I like that idea.
My allergies are in overdrive and at times I can hardly breath but not a single regret “Cuddles “ our newest family member is the most loving little girl many have asked and I didn’t know the answer but now I do yes she is a Siamese Cat (that we all knew) and of the traditional breed (cuter face I’ve discovered) and please no Siamese cat shirts .cups pins or pictures although I appreciate the thought I have no room or need , you thoughts and hand written notes are the real treasures (Thank You)

In February we went to the centennial of flight in Baddeck Nova Scotia, it was amazing, ill post Links to the ford theatre bicentennial celebration of Lincoln shortly and we are also finalizing designs for the sculptures in Cape Breton NS.
Last week my inbox was full asking what I thought …arguments before the state Supreme Court on the constitutionality of Proposition 8 are today march 5,2009 attorneys will be in San Francisco arguing for and against the validity of Proposition 8, the voter-approved measure that limits marriage in California to one man and one woman the Salvation army and Mormons spent millions of dollars donated to their churches and charities to stop gay rights, both churches had in the past taken my money and support , but now light should be shown on their beliefs. Other churches are against gay rights but seldom exclude gay men and women in need from help. The Salvation Army and Mormon Church will turn always all who are different unless we conform to their beliefs. This is not what Jesus taught. I am disappointed but it is a complicated issue. And today I hope reason wins. Either way many questions have been raised should we support those who turn against our rights, I believe it’s no different than a Jew supporting the third Reich. I know I’ll receive thousands of letters over that line but it’s the truth. Young gay men and women are routinely being killed in North America for being what God created after Matthew Sheppard the outcry was loud against hate crimes us as time passed many who were once minorities and persecuted joined in the persecution of gays and lesbians a very sad moment in our social history.
Many ask what I thought about artist Maureen Mullarkey of Chappaqua NY has made her reputation by painting gay pride parades and gay men, but the new Prop. 8 filings show that she donated to the campaign, which eventually outlawed gay marriage in California.
Here is where it gets difficult… should someone who profits and has built their entire career on the gay rights movement be a contributor to the exclusion of gay rights and expects us to accept it?
Had Maureen gone into a ballot box and voted against gay marriage or actively and honestly stated her beliefs from the beginning I would have no issues. but she chose to stand in silence among us and lead us to believe she views us as equals and then betray that trust is unforgivable. I respect other opinions and would even stand by Mike Huchabee because I know where his truth lies.
I know a fair number of people against gay marriage who I continue to patronize because they honestly speak of their belief and don’t force it on society or shroud it in lies and misleading statements…the ballot box is where this can be solved but with truth and not campaigns of fear and out right lies…
I have stood as government officials in Canada lied about me to my face in an effort to discredit the advancement of rights and when confronted with the video evidence that they were lying and I was in the right still tried to lie and distort the truth. To some the very existence of someone who is gay challenges their entire religious belief system. Prop 8 has only shone a bright light on the truth of religious intolerance; the fear of anything they deem different seems to weaken their faith.
I would still buy a painting by Maureen but never one of her iconic gay pieces, and I would make it clear that I don’t appreciate being miss lead that she supports my rights to exist equally in society.
When a clear choice between a supporter of prop 8 or a supporter of equal rights naturally I will patronize the equal rights camp. Too many in society forget the positive impact we have on their lives careers and families. Having already supported a Day with out gay last December I will encourage its growth until men and women are free to love whom ever they choose…
